Despite the fact that Chris Rock made bullet control seem as a joke, I think he is onto something. With recent mass shootings taking place all throughout the nation, policy makers have been focusing more on passing an assault weapons ban (the weapons used in the recent mass shootings). Now this isn’t necessarily a bad thing but there is a bigger issue at hand. According to gunpolicy.org a vast majority of gun related homicides in the United States are not committed with an assault weapon but a pistol. So it would seem logical to get a pistol ban as well?
Getting an assault weapons ban bill to pass through Congress is hard itself imagine how difficult it would be to pass a bill through Congress that bans pistols. Despite the fact that Barack Obama and other policy makers such as Senator Feinstein and Senator Schumer have supported assault weapons ban, we must look at the bigger picture, solving the real issue, the amount of bullets an individual can own.
So the solution to the whole gun issue in the country is not necessarily getting a ban on assault weapons, its placing bullet control in the nation.
